This easy recipe is about a beverage made from
mango as main ingredient. Fresh and delicious when in hot weather or when work
with a high stress level, especially when served cold. As far as we know mango
is native to South and Southeast Asia, from where it has been distributed
worldwide to become one of the most cultivated fruits in the tropics. In
several cultures, mango’s fruit and leaves are ritually used as floral
decorations at weddings, public celebrations and religious ceremonies. The
ripe fruit varies in size and color, yellow,
orange, red or green.
Mangoes are generally sweet, although the taste and texture of the flesh
varies, some having a soft, pulpy texture similar to an overripe plum, while
others firmer, like a cantaloupe or avocado and some may have a fibrous
texture. Mangoes are widely used in cuisine. Sour, unripe mangoes are used in
chutneys, side dishes, or may be eaten raw with salt, chili, or soy sauce.
Mango pulp made into jelly or cooked with red and green chillies may be served
with cooked rice. But the most popular of all mango usually juiced for
smoothies.
Ingredients :
- 1 cup chopped ripe mango
- 1/2 cup low-fat milk
- 1/2 cup ice
- 1/4 cup plain low-fat yogurt
- 1 tablespoon honey
Directions :
- Place the mango, milk, ice, yogurt, and honey in a blender.
- Blend until smooth and frothy.
- Ready to serve for 1 portion
